Dr. Marina Kanakos

Dr. Marina grew up in Staten Island, New York. In her 5th grade yearbook, she wrote that she “wants to be a dentist for kids.” She feels so grateful that she pursued that dream!

She attended The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Public Health. During her time at GWU, she also had the opportunity to study Public Health and Policy abroad in London and at Oxford University.  She also volunteered with Reading Partners, where she served as a tutor for elementary school children.

Dr. Marina then went to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she received many accolades, including The Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry, The New England Hellenic Medical and Dental Society Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, and was a member of the Robert R. Andrews Honors Society. She also traveled to the Dominican Republic with her classmates to help provide oral health care to the local communities. During her time at Tufts Dental, Dr. Marina also met her fiancé, George.

Dr. Marina completed her Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the University of Connecticut, and is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

In her free time, Dr. Marina loves to listen to audiobooks, exercise, and try new restaurants in Philly.

Dr. Marina is proud to be a part of the Bala Kids Dentistry family, and help kids have healthier smiles!
